We begin implementing our new store designs on January, 1, 2020! The Bittersweet store is still on winter break and we won't be open for a few more weeks. During this break we're working hard behind the scenes to enhance Bittersweet store and stock it with beautiful and new unique inventory. We're also offering shiny new personal care products that we believe will knock your winter socks off!
The first of this series, Winter Dreams. This unique collection borrows it's inspiration from all things winter. We love the slowness and calm that winter offers. Fireside gatherings, candle light evenings, and long walks though the winter forest are but a few of our favorite things. Uncomplicated ideas help to create vision which in turn sparks creativity. On Saturday, January 18, 2020, we'll celebrate the arrival of the new belongings and beginnings with a grand re-opening. Along side this special day we also launch our Huge Soap Sale at our door store! Mark you calendars! You won't want to miss this event! This is an exciting time for Bittersweet as we will be celebrating twenty-three years in Twenty-Twenty! We're looking forward to the future and excited to see what's in store for the New Year! It's officially here and I'm loving every moment of it!
These holiday moments are always fast paced at our store, but at home it's more laid back and quiet. I prefer the latter, but also appreciate being busy at our shop! It seems hard to believe that the store is only open twenty-four more days before we close for our annual winter break. Wow! The time just fly's by! We honoring our love for nature by blending it into our shop decorations. Wood elements, preserved cedar, pine cones, cinnamon sticks, and I just ordered white roses. We've had a couple of level dusting s of snow and the temperatures are declaring an early winter. Some folks don't care too much for winter, but I admire it. We hunker down by digging out the winter blankets, and make sure we have a healthy supply of candles. Along the way we rummage through our some slow cooker cookbooks and enjoy the twinkling of the lights from the Christmas tree. By the time late January hits, early February I begin to start dreaming about spring. But for now lets take in some holiday cheer and spread it all around. Wishing you the best of the season! Take in some of its magical moments. Jill McDowell Lincoln What an amazing photo this is! Our friend Clarice from Storybook Woods captured this fall flavored soap with a stunning nature backdrop. We believe that nature and Bittersweet Soap blend perfectly! Thank you Storybook Woods for the review and capturing this beautiful image. Bittersweet is introducing a new autumn soap each week! We posted a soap chronology on our "scent of the month" page. Fall is an exciting time at Bittersweet and we're delighted to offer an array of new aromatic fall scents and products. Each one crafted by hand and infused with the purest of ingredients. Zero Waste never looked so good! Happy Fall! Jill McDowell Lincoln When I read old letters that detail how my Great Grandmother utilized her hand made soap and how necessary it was that she make soap, I'm inspired. Isn't it ironic how after all these years, folks are wanting to go back to the old ways? This soap maker thinks it to be a grand idea! Why not simplify our lives as much as we can. Most peoples lives are typically fast paced and not simple, so an opportunity to use less over more is attractive. I'm fond of it too! It's hard to believe that September has rolled over. She brings birthdays, cabin getaways, and Pumpkin Spice! September marks a prelude to Autumn. Her anticipation begins to grow stronger as the hot days of August settle in. Wishing you a slow moving September. One that includes quiet morning walks and peaceful candle light evenings. Jill Glorious Autumn is gently knocking on our door. We're already day dreaming about falling crimson leaves, pumpkins, and harvest moons. Our Tartan Collection was inspired by all of those things.
While browsing the fabric store I was bewitched with rich brown and golden plaid textiles that lined the shelves. This artisan collection is filled with rich pumpkin spice and everything nice! But hurry, this hand made collection is limited and only available at our brick and mortar store in Historic Liberty Missouri. Jill McDowell Lincoln Our Lake House Collection was inspired by hot summer days spent at the lake.
This exclusive selection of artisan soap is wrapped in colorful calico. As with any limited edition, it won't last forever! Bittersweet wishes you a Happy Independence Day! Jill McDowell Lincoln Maybe it can't be summer forever, but we can take in each and every drop of it why it's here!
Bittersweet is excited to introduce our new summer soaps. Indigo Summer, The Meadow, Summer Breeze, are a few early releases. Each one, mellow like summer. In the weeks to come, we will continue to add to our summer soap menu, and we posted a chronology on our scent of the month page. We've introduced pure rose-hip oil and our new cardamom creme is nothing short of amazing! We've planted Sweet Grass in the garden and the tiny zinnia plants are headed towards the sun. So June Bug, it's looking like an exciting month! Jill McDowell Lincoln The days will soon be filled with gentle southern breezes and warm summer nights. The cricket orchestra will strum their happy tunes. Thoughts of rising early to gather freshly cut bouquets put a smile on my face. Sorting through my closet to draw out white summer dresses and linen tops help get me in the summer mood.
Summer is just around the corner and Bittersweet is eager to share our newest products and lines as the new season begins to bloom. We've sifted through our suppliers to bring you the finest quality and latest looks that we believe you're gong to love. Straw hats, summer stripes, bangles, and indigo are but a few of our latest offerings at our brick and mortar shop. We're working on new skin care formulations and continually searching for pure organic materials that are not only chemical free, but game changers for your skin. This past April we celebrated a twenty-two year anniversary! I'm proud to say, that I'm even more passionate about creating clean skin care products today than I was in 1997! It's an honor and privilege to serve you! The peonies are blooming! It's a season for planting and sowing and cultivating both in life and in the garden. I believe that it's the little things in life that bring the most rewarding moments, and that the sweetest memories are formed from the simplest moments. Wishing you the best. Jill Bittersweet launched the soap maker's blog in 2006! I enjoy sharing bits and pieces about soap making and managing an apothecary business.
The month of April marks our twenty-second anniversary! Honestly, I really can't believe how fast time goes. I guess it feels like it's been twenty-two years only because so many things have changed since we were born. Packaging has definitely seen revisions time and time again. Learning new methods of business continues to advance, and nothing stays the same. That's a good thing! One thing that remains steady is my passion to create the best skin care products. I enjoy leaping forward and embracing the Bittersweet moments. Some good, some have been bad, but all have molded this little soap making business into reaching beyond my wildest dreams! If you get a chance, pop over to "the soap maker's blog", and travel back in time to see how it all transformed over the past twenty-two years. Wishing you blessings and good thoughts. Jill McDowell Lincoln Spring is a great time to stop and smell the flowers. At the modern apothecary shop, we're hand picking soft faded hues for soap wrapping and designs.
We're anxiously awaiting the tulips, violets, and red buds to unveil their glorious beauty. The past few days I've been clearing and tidying up at both our home and the shop. We're starting some remodeling projects at our home and I'll be excited when we start installing new fixtures and get close to the end of the construction. The shop is experiencing a Hygge phenomenon. Practicing Hygge is not limited to winter. You can enjoy the gratifying moments year round! The grass is beginning to turn green and I'm itching to plant my stash of zinnia seeds. Happy Spring! Jill |
