Happy, Happy, May Day!

I'm constantly surprised and sometimes thrown back by how fast time goes.
Today is May Day!
I associate this day with happy, joyful little girl memories.
My mom would celebrate May Day with fresh flowers from her garden along with wild wood violets, and spirea. bouquets. If the lilacs were blooming she'd slip in a few sprigs.
We had an early spring this season so the lilacs have come and gone as have the wild wood violets. Considered a weed to some, but a treasured flower to me.
It takes a lot of violet stems to create even a small bouquet. I have done it many times, with great pleasure. 
I can't imagine the planet without flowers.  Can you?
